SD | Scandinavian Art & Rare Book Auctions: Polar Exploration/The International Part. We are proud to present a fine collection on Polar Exploration, Colour Plate Books, Nordic and Natural History. A fine section Antarctica including the first edition of Aurora Australis and other limited and signed editions by Shackleton. Books from the library of Roald Amundsen on board Fram, a fine set of South Polar Times, photographs by Henry Robertson Bowers and more.

A smaller section of literature presents first editions by Kierkegaard and a first edition of James Joyce’s Ulysses.

Early Nordic history, including the first printed Snorre Norske Kongers Krønicke, 1594, believed to be the only complete copy in private ownership. Also presented is a unique set of Paul Gaimard’s Voyage de la Commision scientific du Nord [...], 1842-1856, the only known copy with contemporary hand coloured plates.
